Epic

So we met a guy in the pool at Fiona’s grandparents retirement community. In a beautiful pool with an absolutely stunning view overlooking the City of Sin he proceeded to tell us truly how EPIC Utah was going to be.

We shit you not he literally used the word epic 20 times in the span of 5 minutes. Very kind man with a exceedingly large amount to say about Moab Utah and Perth Australia. Long story short we know where we’re going tomorrow and it better be fuckin epic.
Earlier in the day we went around the city aka the Vegas strip. Hot as balls and expensive as hell, it was not quite the destination point for 4 broke ass idiots living out of a van. We did, in the end, get a cheap foot long hot dog and some “cheapish“ drinks. During the hot sweltering heat of midday we found ourselves in the midst of a wannabe frat party with brothers who were brothers 6 years ago but are now fellow coworkers in marketing. We saw many very drunk bikini clad pool goers twerking tsunamis in the semen filled pool, and to that I saw who needs to pay for a good show in Vegas.
All in all Vegas seems like it has the potential to live up to the hype. The people here know first hand it is to make it on the real broadway or anywhere in conventional show biz for that matter, and that sense of “last stop: Las Vegas!” is what gives this town the soulless force it needs to be a true adult playground. I dream of someday returning, with more money in my pocket and more friends to swing from the monkey bars of this desert hobble.
We ended the night somehow talking politics with Fiona’s grandparents, and how they felt living through the civil rights movement compared to now. They tasked us with the challenge of shaping the future, whatever that means. Maybe I should watch more news.
Tomorrow it’s off to the EPIC! city of Moab Utah. And so loyal readers: good night, and if you don’t hear from us in 3 days drink a shot and know we lived our final moments pursuing that ever elusive American dream.
